In recent months hackers have reportedly tampered with government Web sites and conducted illegal transactions, despite a new criminal code enacted last year that targeted computer crimes. The Ministry of Public Security has approved an anti-hacker software by Beixingyuan, the China Daily said. Beixinyuan Automation Technology Ltd., in developing its system, found that computer networks for 15 companies in five cities were easy prey, the paper said. "China lacks feasible and reliable means to guarantee network safety," the newspaper quoted ministry official Wang Shiduo as saying. -o- Subscribe: mail majordomoat_private with "subscribe isn".
