AFA Cadet Charged With Hacking - (COLORADO SPRINGS) -- Another Air Force
Academy cadet is in trouble... charged with hacking into the computers of
three private companies and causing more than 40-thousand dollars in
damage. Twenty-one-year-old Christopher Wiest... a junior at the Academy
near Colorado Springs... faces up to 15 and a half years in federal
prison, and a discharge from the service if he is found guilty on
court-martial charges. Air Force officials say the Wiest case is the first
case of computer hacking to reach court-martial in that branch of military
service. Attorneys for Wiest say the Air Force has the wrong man. Wiest is
from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. His court-martial could begin as early as
next month. Last week, the Air Force Academy announced it was
investigating a handful of cadets for mail theft. That investigation is
    still underway.
