http://www.crn.com/Sections/BreakingNews/BreakingNews.asp?ArticleID=33290 By Marcia Savage, CRN San Jose, Calif. 12:03 PM EST Wed., Feb. 13, 2002 Secure Computing will buy Network Associates' Gauntlet firewall and VPN business, the companies said Wednesday. Network Associates' Gauntlet customers will be transitioned to Secure Computing, based here. Under terms of the deal, Secure Computing, maker of the Sidewinder Firewall, will acquire the Gauntlet firewall/VPN business assets, including the software, the firewall E-ppliance product line, and related customer-support contracts. The purchase price was not disclosed. The deal is expected to close by Feb. 22. Santa Clara, Calif.-based Network Associates put its Gauntlet product line up for sale last October when it dissolved its PGP Security division as part of a corporate cost-cutting initiative. In a statement, company executives said they sold Gauntlet to Secure Computing after a search for a buyer that would ensure a "seamless support transition" for customers. Tim McGurran, president and COO at Secure Computing, said the company looks forward to adding the more than 4,000 Gauntlet customers and 100 VARs to its customer roster. "As a result of this acquisition, Secure will be the worldwide leader in application-layer firewalls," he said in a prepared statement. The Gauntlet firewall was developed by Trusted Information Systems, which was acquired by Network Associates in 1998. - ISN is currently hosted by Attrition.org To unsubscribe email majordomoat_private with 'unsubscribe isn' in the BODY of the mail.
