Protesters have stepped up their campaign against war in Iraq on the
Internet by defacing many US and UK government and corporate websites.

The manager of the Finnish anti-virus software firm F-Secure, Mikko
Hypponen, says there were reports of 800 defacements on Friday (local
    time) alone.

"[That is] ten times more than a week ago, which tells me groups are
increasingly turning to the Internet to protest," Mr Hypponen said.

The messages range from anger over the US military campaign to words
    of support to troops.

A spokesman for F-Secure says an example is the Routeco home page
which protesters hacked into to post a photo of protestors burning an
American flag with a message read: "Ohh YeaH BabY...Ur SiTe Has BeeN
    DeFaceD".

But they say the impact is minimal, with website operators able to
    restore sites within hours.
