The hackers broke into the computer network of a Russian Academy of Sciences institute in the Novosibirsk region and tried to download research data worth $100 million, said Igor Akhrimeyev, a spokesman for the FSB's branch in Novosibirsk. He said the unidentified institute focused on chemical research, but would not elaborate, Interfax reported. He also would not say where the hackers were located, but said China, South Korea and United States had displayed interest in research done by the institute.
