The computer belongs to Lincoln B.P. Management, which manages residential property on the sprawling Marine base. Residents of the San Onofre I and II, Stuart Mesa and Pacific View neighborhoods were being notified by the company, which reported the computer lost on Tuesday. We take this matter very seriously and are working closely with Lincoln Properties to find out what happened and to safeguard the personal information of our Marines, sailors and their families, said Col. James B. Seaton III, the base's commanding officer. There's no evidence that any data has been used improperly, base officials said. However, they encouraged base residents to closely monitor their bank accounts, credit card activity and other financial transactions. To ensure that all affected residents have access to the appropriate resources to monitor the credit accounts, Lincoln B.P. Management Inc. is in the process of retaining Equifax to provide personal credit monitoring services on their behalf, company Vice President Steve Browne wrote in a statement e-mailed to reporters. If any service member suffers a loss due to identity fraud arising from this incident, Lincoln B.P. Management Inc. will work with Equifax, the applicable credit card companies and insurance companies to rectify the situation, Browne stated. Lincoln B.P. Management manages 6,223 housing units on the base. _________________________________ Donate online for the Ron Santo Walk to Cure Diabetes! http://www.c4i.org/ethan.html
