http://www.ospint.com/text/d/4067539/ 16/03/2007 Federal Security Service (FSB) director Nikolai Patrushev told that in the two years period his service has prevented more than 2 million hacker attacks on the sites of the Russian government, including more than 300,000 attacks on the Presidents website. According to him, "targeted and integrated hacker attacks using data encryption algorithms to block information systems are becoming more widespread over the Internet now. Following the successful attack perpetrators raise the financial requirements for the provision of key to decrypt the users data. A similar incident occurred in one of the fuel and energy organizations in the country. Failue in the enterprise operation could have lead to paralysis of life in several regions of Russia. Technological units of FSB took swift action to deal with the consequences of the incident.
