http://www.postchronicle.com/news/original/article_21295808.shtml By Mitch Marconi August 4, 2007 Michelle Madigan, an Associate Producer for Dateline NBC, got a little more than she bargained for when she tried to sneak in to DEFCON 2007 with hidden cameras in order to get someone to confess to a felony. According to sources at the show, Madigan was there to do a piece called "Hackers for Hire," with the objective of showing the criminal hacker underground and maybe even outing an undercover federal agent. Madigan was quoted as saying, "People in Kansas would be very interested in what is going on at DEFCON," reports the Inquirer [1]. When DEFCON staff announced a "spot the undercover reporter" game and told the audience that an undercover reporter was allegedly taking video to catch someone confessing to a hacking crime, Madigan retreated from the conference in a hurry followed by a crowd of 150 DEFCON attendees [2] and reporters [3] allegedly trying to photograph and video tape her, reports ZDNet [4]. In the end, Madigan got into her vehicle and promptly drove into a dead end corner of the parking lot. Needless to say, the large crowd found it extremely amusing when she had to back up and drive through the crowd to get out of the parking lot.
