This is the first time that Hong Kong heads the APCERT comprising 22 leading and national Computer Security and Incident Response Teams (CSIRT) from 15 economies of the Asia Pacific region, said the Hong Kong Productivity Council that manages the HKCERT established in 2001. “HKCERT is honored to be given the opportunity to take up the role of the chair of APCERT," said K T Yung, project director of HKCERT, and general manager (IT Industry Development) of HKPC. "This is indeed a recognition of our achievements, technical competence and leadership in the region in safeguarding information security. “In its new capacity, HKCERT can further expand its network and enhance cooperation with international information security organizations, raising the profile of Hong Kong as a guardian of cyber security in the international arena,” he added.
