In a suit and tie Friday and posing as a potential buyer, he allegedly stole a luxury car from a South Side dealership and rode around for a few hours before leading police in a chase that ended in a crash, police said. A salesperson at a dealership in the 7200 block of South Western Avenue offered the boy a test drive in a 1990 black Lexus sedan the teen was interested in, but the car’s battery was dead. After the battery was charged, the salesperson was to accompany the boy on the ride but first needed to return the charger. When the salesperson returned, the teen and the car were gone, police said.
