http://www.bakersfield.com/news/local/x1818937321/Bertram-computer-hacking-trial-set-for-April BY JAMES BURGER Californian staff writer Bakersfield.com Feb 01 2011 Martin Bertram, who lost his bid for a Bakersfield City Council seat in November, is scheduled to go on trial in April on charges he illegally took private campaign data from the computers of former Kern High School District Trustee and Assembly candidate Ken Mettler. The charge is a misdemeanor. Court records show the case is scheduled to begin April 4 and that Bertram, through attorney Seth O'Dell, demanded his case go to trial during a preliminary hearing Friday. Deputy District Attorney Joseph Marcano said he did not offer Bertram a plea bargain. "After talking with his attorney, I didn't think the case would resolve without a jury trial," Marcano said. O'Dell confirmed the case is moving forward.
