Dame Stella — now a best-selling author — left the computer on a luggage trolley from where a thief swiped it. The laptop is understood to contain sensitive contact details of former spy colleagues as well as book research. Its theft has been reported to the Met’s SO15 Counter-Terrorism Command because of security concerns. Dame Stella, 77, was said to be “very upset”. A source said: “Dame Stella seems to have forgotten the tricks of her tradecraft since leaving MI5.
