Taipei, 27th December: The People's Liberation Army (PLA) of mainland China
is trying to develop its capability for computer-virus warfare, according to
information from Beijing.
Two divisions of the Shenyang Military Region held the first exercise of
computer-virus warfare of the PLA on 10th October. The exercise was observed
by many electronics experts from various military units.
The information from Beijing pointed out that the PLA's electronics
equipment was highlighted in a series of articles carried by the Liberation
Army newspaper just before the 15th Congress of the Chinese Communist Party
opened in mid-September.
High-ranking military officers from various military regions have also
attended several seminars on high technology since the beginning of this
year.
These activities indicate that the PLA has made the development of its
capability in waging electronics warfare a priority, the information from
Beijing pointed out.
