    Dear Colleagues:

Kindly circulate or post where interested staff and students will see
    this notice.

    CALL FOR PAPERS: EICAR 2000

    March 4 to March 7, 2000
    Brussels, Belgium

    SUBMISSION DEADLINE JULY 1, 1999

The dynamic and rapid development of new technologies presents an
ever-increasing opportunity for the malevolent exploitation of such
technologies, requiring combined efforts in research and development of
    defense measures.

The unprecedented availability of information, stored on innumerable
interconnected servers and ready for instantaneous access from anywhere
in the world, has led to new opportunities for information gathering and
exploitation, which in some cases are carried out within a legislative
    vacuum.

The First European Anti-Malware (9th annual EICAR) conference brings
together experts from industry, government, academy, and research, as
well as end-users interested in security issues, in a forum designed to
both heighten awareness of critical issues and provide practical
    solutions.

Papers pertaining to malicious code, unwanted side-effects or
malfunction, network security, information age and society, cryptography
and the protection of privacy and anonymity, new media, and electronic
commerce, are welcome. Subject matter may be theoretical, empirical, or
    methodology oriented.

We are interested in receiving Research Papers, Research in Progress
Reports, Case Studies and proposals for Symposia. For full details see
    <http://www.eicar.dk/submit/call.html> or send e-mail to
