Of greatest concern are cyberattacks that could bring down ATM's, power grids and public transportation systems, disrupting the economy and posing safety risks. (Associated Press, 20 Jan) Europe is virus hotbed. Europe accounts for 57% of the world's malicious code writing activity, with 21% originating from Eastern Europe, including Russia. The hacker group "Team Asian Pride" has claimed responsibility for defacing the Web sites of three Philippine senators, and the corporate sites of one technology firm and one Internet service site. (Philippine Daily Inquirer, 14 Jan) Hackers attacked 103 Moroccan Web sites in 2001. Hackers attacked at least 103 Moroccan Internet Web sites last year in attempts to modify their contents. Local firms specializing in information technologies have urged the authorities to set up a legal framework and proceedings to deter hacker attacks and protect the E-business activity in Morocco.
