The Live Update program checks for patches and such for all the Symantec programs installed, virus signature updates among them. The manually downloaded file doesn't include those patches. I would love to know a little more about those update files as the Live Update program reports a very different file size for the signature update then the manually downloaded file. Forever curious, that me. Rob Robert S. Why would it update less stuff than the LiveUpdate thing does? A .exe run by administrator can do anything: a gross violation of the principle of least privilege, but it sure would be convenient if it updated software as well as signatures :) Crispin -- Crispin Cowan, Ph.D. Chief Scientist, WireX Communications, Inc. http://wirex.com Security Hardened Linux Distribution: http://immunix.org Available for purchase: http://wirex.com/Products/Immunix/purchase.html
