DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The Security Administrator is responsible for developing and implementing data security systems that will provide detection, prevention, containment and deterrence mechanisms to protect and maintain the integrity of data throughout DHS. Major duties include: Operate, administer and maintain security filters, guards and firewalls. Operate, administer and maintain intrusion detection systems and conduct information assurance audits. Operate, administer and maintain VPNs. Validate the existing security database, eliminate expired and inactive user data and accesses and ensure that active user information is current, accurate and complete. Refine and implement the current security plan according to established timelines. Implement policy and procedures that are designed to protect DHS information from unauthorized or accidental duplication, modification and destruction. Establish and maintain correct access rules defining who has access to which data under what circumstances.
