Geo _______________ "Simple But Sound First Responder Tools" Lecture by Jesse Kornblum Chief, Research and Development Air Force Office of Special Investigations Friday, January 17, 2003, 12:30 pm at OCATE System Administrators have more important things to worry about than studying digital forensics and searching for contraband materials on their networks. When incidents occur, however, we need these first responders to be experts in these fields; able to gather and analyze this material quickly and safely. To help them in this task, we are developing a new set of tools that automate the evidence gathering and collection processes. Jesse Kornblum is the Chief of Research and Development for the Air Force Office of Special Investigations. A graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, he has experience running intrusion investigations and supporting other agents in more traditional investigations such as murder, arson, and child pornography. He is currently responsible for developing tools and techniques to allow law enforcement agents to conduct investigations. Some of these tools have been made available to the general public, such as http://foremost.sourceforge.net/ foremost, a tool for recovering files based on their headers and footers. This lecture is organized by the CRIME (Computer Related Investigations Management and Education) For more information, call visit the web site at: crime.zotconsulting.com
