I made my conclusion based on believing that this person is not a subscriber
to our list, so how else would the message have arrived to us.
    (That's a statement, not a question.)

How exactly is a university in Romania "a spammer"? I took a quick
    gander
through my spam mbox and found zero references to pub.ro. I'll admit I
don't get _every_ spam the internet sees, but I get a fair amount.[1]

[1]: there are 1498102 lines in my spam mbox. Yes, nearly 1.5 million.

I offer my spam mbox as a free resource to whoever wishes it -- whether
you think a spam you got recently is unique in any way, or you wish to
plot trends in spam, or you're simply curious -- just ask, and ye shall
receive. It compresses down rather well: it is only 28 compressed with
gzip's -9 setting, so it is obvious spammers are nothing if not
    repetitious. :)
