If you're interested in attending here are the details: ----------- Unified Threat Management Security Appliances Free Luncheon Seminar WHAT: Secure Computing Corporation and Anitian Enterprise Security would like to invite you to a Luncheon Seminar which will explore an emerging trend in the way companies' approach securing their perimeters, Unified Threat Management (UTM). WHY: UTM Appliances combine multiple security functions onto a single platform providing increased security while lowering the costs of perimeter security design, deployment, administration, support, etc. WHEN: Wednesday, October 5th, 2005, from 11:30AM -1:30PM WHERE: Fox Sports Grill, 1522 Sixth Avenue, Downtown Seattle COST: Free of charge. Lunch provided. Just five months ago, IDC introduced a new market segment called Unified Threat Management (UTM). IDC, the preeminent authority on IT market tracking and forecasting has clearly identified an ongoing trend toward consolidated security appliances. "Threat management security appliances are defined as a combination of hardware, software, and networking technologies whose primary function is to perform specific and or multiple security functions." (IDC 2004) Such security functions may include: Firewall, VPN, IPS/IDS, SSL Termination, Web Firewall, Spyware/IM/P2P Controls, Anti-Virus, Anti-Spam, and Content Filtering. IDC projects the UTM appliance market to grow at over 80% CAGR (compounded annual growth rate) due to increased efficiencies in cost reduction and management. Brian McLean of Secure Computing will discuss this new UTM trend and what it means in regards to the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) when compared to the traditional approach of deploying point products for each security function. There is no cost to attend and lunch will be provided for each participant. Seating is limited, so please register early. Visit: http://www.anitian.com/events/utm_register.htm to register for the event. Must be registered to attend. Speaker Bio Brian McLean is a senior Security Systems Engineer for Secure Computing Corporation in the Northwest United States and Western Canada. For the past five years, Brian has specialized in the design and implementation of VPNs and high security, layer 7 firewall implementations. Prior to that, he spent a great deal of time as a lead systems engineer, working with DNS, SMTP, and a plethora of other services to balance the needs of usability against the requirements of security. He has an extensive background in various Unix operating systems, as well as Novell and Microsoft OS's. Brian is a certified CISSP, his education background includes Electrical Engineering (emphasis on high speed communications), and a minor in Japanese, which he speaks fluently. _______________________________________________ Crime mailing list Crime@private http://lists.whiteknighthackers.com/mailman/listinfo/crime
