    Greetings,
I received this through another list, and thought this may be of interest.

Digital Evidence in the Courtroom: A Guide for Preparing Digital
    Evidence for Courtroom Presentation

        Dear Colleagues:

The National Center for Forensic Science (NCFS) is a National Institute
of Justice (NIJ) program hosted by the University of Central Florida (UCF)
in Orlando, Florida. Established in 1997, the primary objective of
NCFS is improving the capabilities of both the law enforcement and forensic
science communities on the state and local level. NCFS also facilitates
Technical Working Groups (TWGs) comprised of experts in various forensic
areas who assist NIJ with planning and designing guidebooks to meet specific
    needs as they arise.

NCFS has facilitated a TWG to produce an NIJ Guide on presenting digital
evidence in the courtroom. The TWG membership consists of prosecutors,
defense attorneys, law enforcement officers, forensic examiners, and members
of academia. The TWG recently completed work on a draft version of the
proposed guide entitled Digital Evidence in the Courtroom: A Guide for
Preparing Digital Evidence for Courtroom Presentation.

Before publication, NIJ-sponsored draft documents, such as this one, undergo
a peer-review process. During this review process, members of the forensic
science, investigative, and law enforcement communities are asked to review
the proposed document and recommend changes. NCFS has posted the Digital
Evidence in the courtroom draft document on its website at
http://www.ncfs.org/DE_courtroomdraft.pdf for review. NCFS will make this
document available for review for 30 days.

After reviewing the draft document, please send your comments to
natlctrat_private, fax them to NCFS at (407) 823-3162, or mail them to
    NCFS, P.O. Box 162367, Orlando, Florida, 32816 by May 12, 2003.

Thank you in advance for taking the time to review this document. Your
input is extremely valuable and your timely response will facilitate the
    publication of this important document.

        Sincerely,

        Carrie M. Whitcomb,
        Director
