    What I meant by "no possibility to go back to character mode" is exactly 
    that:
    an escape sequence followed by "mode character" doen't change anything... But
    thanks anyway for your suggestion.
    
    Regarding the client used, we made tests with 3 different Unix telnet clients
    (Solaris 2.6, Solaris 2.7 and RedHat 5.2 Linux) and a Win95 telnet client, 
    all
    ending with the same problems, which makes me think it's _not_ client related
    but is really the symptom of something going wrong in the telnet options
    negociation phase between fwtk and FW-1.
