Heya all, As most of you have seen today the press world is rife with various vendors proclaiming our impending doom. Pack it in folks, it's shot. Valiant effort and whatnot but apparently the 1rst of the coming month is all hellfire and Code Red worms. Or at least a series of security companies, OS vendors, press organizations and .gov agencies seem to think so. Smacks of too little too late with a healthy mix of commercial fear mongering thrown in but hey, I am cynical after all... I do expect some activity on the first, and I sincerely hope it does not reach the mammoth proportions of the initial breakout. I suspect that with all of the notifications everyone did on the first round plus the resulting press (not to mention the current flurry) that the 'awoken' version of this worm will not be all that bad. Of course, I could be wrong. Should this be the case we will (we being SecurityFocus) be doing notifications once again. FWIW we ended up notifying against 300,000+ hosts from the last round. Should you like to submit offending hosts for us to notify against please send them to: aris-reportat_private *PLEASE* place them in the following format: IP ADDRESS DATE/TIME Without the date and time the notification process becomes a nightmare.
