We are pleased to announce the release of LoGS 0.0.1. LoGS is a
rule-based log analysis engine which attempts to address some of the
short-comings of other freely available tools.

LoGS has been in development for approx. 19 months at The Center for High
Performance Computing at The University of New Mexico (UNM HPC). Despite
this being the first "Alpha" release, LoGS is being used for several
production tasks at UNM HPC.

LoGS is written entirely in Common Lisp. Lisp is used both for extension
of and configuration of LoGS.

LoGS features include:

A ruleset modifyable at run-time.

A complete programming language (Common Lisp) for specifying which
messages a rule matches as well as what to do in response.

Rulesets may be nested in LoGS allowing for greater efficiency and ease of
maintenance.

LoGS uses Edi Weitz excellent CL-PPCRE perl compatable regular expression
package for very fast regexp matching.

LoGS attempts to be very efficient.

LoGS can be obtained at:

The CVS repository is available at:

Sincerely,
James E. Prewett
