Huh? It's only our default kernel on our official ISO images and CDs that requires at least a Pentium clone. Of course, the kernel will need to be built for the specific hardware, but: The i386 userland packages that we distribute are in fact supposed to work on anything i386 and up (or we would not be calling them i386).
