[Battlebots (think robots mauling each other) is quite a decent show, and it's a shame to see that their lawyers are just as censorhappy as anyone else's. The TV show already owns battlebots.com; now they're gunning for battlebots.org. The .org domain apparently has nothing to do with real-world robots and everything to do with IRC 'bots, a recognizably different species. I'll forward replies from aforementioned humorless lawyers or comedy-impaired company representatives if they feel they can publicly defend this shoddy practice of theirs. --DBM] ********* Date: Fri, 31 Aug 2001 19:05:14 -0700 To: declanat_private From: Warren [last name and email address deleted --DBM] Subject: The battle over battlebots.org Declan, This small ISP's dilemma may interest the politech list. http://www.battlebots.org/ Basically the owner is being sued for the domain name although he registered the domain name before the Battlebots TV show registered the name as a Trademark.
