Subject: Philips on protected music CDs

    declan,

seems Philips, one of the pioneers of CD technology, is going w/ consumers
on this one--they intend for their burners to function normally w/ protected
    music CDs.

as owners of the CD trademark, Philps is requesting that the music CDs not
bear the common "Compact Disc" logo, due to conformity issues.

(worth reading for the diss on labels: "[they] don't know what they're
    doing.")
