We're certainly looking forward to your participation. MG The University of Ottawa is hosting a two-day conference on comparative perspectives on intellectual property and Internet law. The conference brings together 18 scholars from across Canada and the U.S. to compare how Canada and the U.S. are dealing with issues such as copyright, privacy, and e-commerce. With schools such as Harvard, Berkeley, Stanford, and the Wharton school all represented, it is one of the largest events of its kind ever held in Canada. As part of the conference we are hosting a town hall style meeting with senior Canadian government officials. The plan is to have representatives from Canadian Heritage and Industry Canada lay out their current plans on copyright, patents, spam, and privacy and then engage in a serious discussion with the audience and experts from across North America. The event will be moderated by noted technology journalist Declan McCullagh and promises to provide a unique perspective on the current state of Canadian technology policy. The event is planned for October 3rd and 4th, with the policy lunch slated for Friday the 3rd. Full details are at http://www.commonlaw.uottawa.ca/tech/html/symposium.html. For those that cannot attend in person, the symposium will be webcast. Links to the webcast will be available at the symposium url noted above.
