There's more background in the op-ed I had in the Washington Examiner last month -- http://www.dcexaminer.com/articles/2005/04/07/opinion/op-ed/25oped08plummer.txt -- James Plummer Policy Director Liberty Coalition jplummer@private <mailto:jplummer@private> -------- Original Message -------- Subject: Re: [Politech] National ID card on the way? An efficient delivery system for personal identifiable information on citizens to businesses engaged in data collection and customer profiling. Some of these same businesses then will offer their data broker services to federal and state government agencies. -- Lillie Coney Associate Director Electronic Privacy Information Center (EPIC) 1718 Connecticut Avenue, NW Washington, DC 20009 (p) 202-483-1140 x 111 (f) 202-483-1248 -------- Original Message -------- Subject: Re: [Politech] National ID card on the way? Be very afraid. Not a joke. The only plus side to all this is the fact that it will make tracking down deab beat dads a whole lot eaiser. But, they already have their social security and income tax forms to track them down with. There is no discernable reason for this and it can only be either a nefarious plan or just plain stupidity by the republicans. This should be protested every day and chance you can, people. -------- Original Message -------- Subject: Re: [Politech] National ID card on the way? Get everyone used to the Real ID for 10 to 20 years and the next logical step is to implant the ID and guess what you are now living with what was predicted in Revelations. Taking the Biblical perspective out of it how do you fight this on a 1st Amendment and get the courts to throw out a Real ID? How can the states be forced to participate? I can tell you that letting a vendor read my ID card when I make a purchase with a credit card is not going to happen! You can verify my picture and signature but other then that NOTHING ELSE.
