It is multi-threaded, fast, and is pluggable at almost every point. Changes: Lots of snort compatibility fixes were made. All the snort 1.7 rules work, and most of the snort 1.8 rules work. Lots of bugs in the snort parser were fixed. A memory leak in the string matcher was fixed. Stormwall and the report target are more configurable. A bug in the sniffer fallback mode was fixed. The default target is now configurable. A highly experimental ruleset compiler was added, and it is disabled by default. Usability fixes were made, and some error messages were added in places where firestorm could exit without providing any feedback.
