SILC 0.6 (Toolkit) by priikone (http://freshmeat.net/users/priikone/) Wednesday, October 17th 2001 06:28 Categories: Communications, Communications :: Chat, Communications :: Conferencing, Security, Security :: Cryptography, Software Development :: Libraries, System :: Networking About: SILC (Secure Internet Live Conferencing) is a protocol which provides secure conferencing services in the Internet over insecure channels. SILC superficially resembles IRC, although they are very different internally. The purpose of SILC is to provide secure conferencing services. Strong cryptographic methods are used to secure all traffic. The SILC is delivered as SILC Client for end users, SILC Server for system administrators, and SILC Toolkit for application developers. Changes: Backup router support and backup router resuming support, file transfer support and implementation of the SFTP protoocol, and a memory (virtual) filesystem for file sharing added. Security fixes for MAC computation, MAC keys, and packet length encryption were made. Other minor bugfixes were also made.
