After a while, a new version (v0.24) of File System Saint is out. This is mostly bugfix release with additional tweaks. File System Saint (fss), is a poor man's Tripwire-like utility that cretates a snapshot of a live file system, and uses that information later to detect any changes. It can be configured to run automatically and report any changes via email. It stores information about file size, ctime, mtime, owner, permissions. Since all these parameters can be tampered with, File System Saint stores a cryptographic hash of a file, guaranteeing that content of the file cannot be changed unnoticed. File System Saint is released under a BSD license. Changes from previous version (v0.20) include: - simple signal handling (to exit cleanly in certain situations) - command line database specification; nuke bogus > redirecting - proper manual pages - config file syntax validation - various miscellaneous fixes and performance tweaks - use Getopt::Std insted of Getopt::Long - switch program name to 'fss' Update is suggested. Many small bugs have been fixed. As usual, the new version can be fetched at http://www.insecure.dk. /haver -- Library is an arsenal of liberty, -- unknown
