It serves as a packet switching center for ISPs, and is offering secure, fault-tolerant co-location services to ISPs. Position Summary: In the front line of customer service, Technicians must answer customer questions, respond to requests and solve problems. When escorting customers to equipment sites, Technicians are security conscious while maintaining a friendly customer service attitude. By finding ways to improve service and upgrade maintenance techniques, Technicians maintain or improve the level of customer satisfaction. Position Description: Install cross connects, then terminate, test and label them Install IX hardware racks, shelves, power strips, and circuits for customer use Troubleshoot wiring schematics, signal diagnostics, and internetworking operations Perform remote hands services for customers Report current status via the ticketing system, shift reports and e-mail Escort customers to their equipment sites and assist within the limits provided by their contract Answer Customer Service telephone and email, opening tickets and escalating problems Available for on-call via pager during unscheduled days or shift times for emergency scheduling requirements Perform other job-related tasks as identified Experience Requirements (minimum qualifications): Intra- and Inter-network installation background, telephone company installations, network troubleshooting experience. Knowledge of network cabling, such as T1, DS3, OC3/12/48, Ethernet, FDDI, and punch down blocks. Customer service skills are a must. Also needed is the willingness to work day, evening, or night shifts. Need end-user knowledge of UNIX and Windows95 environments including email experience. Education Requirements: High school minimum, four-year degree preferred (data communications). Military service highly valued.
