My recent experience has been with operational Network Engineering
and IT management with a security focus, but I also have considerable
background in software development. Since I'd like to stay pretty
much between San Jose CA and Portland OR, but escape the outrageous
housing prices of the SF Bay Area proper, I'm willing to consider a
variety of kinds of position, from Information Security (including
consulting) to a return to software development (of security tools).

    Resume summary:

Network Security/Engineering Specialist. I have 5 years networking
experience as a datacomm manager, network engineer, supervisor, and
project manager; and 15+ years previous experience as a software
engineer and systems engineer. I plan, implement and troubleshoot
WAN and LAN architectures, develop network security policy and
monitor compliance, and lead the network infrastructure engineering
team. I coordinate projects with internal engineering, purchasing,
accounting, legal, finance, and facilities departments, and with
outside contractors and customers. I enjoy a challenging mix of
    technical and business responsibilities.

Technology Experience. I have worked primarily with TCP/IP
networking over Ethernet LAN and Point-to-Point, Frame Relay and VPN
    WAN/Internet circuits including 56K, DSL, T1, and DS-3. Specific
networking equipment experience has included firewalls (NetScreen 5 /
    10 / 100, Cisco PIX 520, Microsoft Proxy Server 2.0, Raptor), routers
    (Cisco 2600 / 3600 / 7200 / RSM / 675, LinkSys BEFSR11, Microsoft NT
4.0, various DSL), VPNs (Cisco VPN 3000 (Altiga), NetScreen IPSEC,
Microsoft PPTP), enterprise switches (Cisco Catalyst 4006 / 5509 /
    6509), workgroup switches (Cisco Catalyst 1924XL / 2924XL / 2924XL-
C), sniffers (EtherPeek, NAI Sniffer, NT Network Monitor, windump),
and remote access (RAS / modem, DSL, Xyplex terminal server).

Certified. I hold current MCSE NT 4.0 (electives TCP/IP and Proxy
Server 2.0), and CTIA A+ (with specific experience in SCSI/RAID
storage subsystems) certifications. I am working on Cisco CCNA and
    MCSE Windows 2000.

Publications. I was cited as an expert source in “Information
Security” magazine, July 2000 issue, and was interviewed in “Network
Computing” magazine, October 2, 2000 issue. I was also co-author of
"Visual C++ 4 Master Class", published by WROX Press, 1996, ISBN 1-
    874416-44-3.

Programming. I have developed software using C++, Perl, Modula-2,
Pascal, APL, C, BASIC, FORTRAN, and assembler on a variety of systems
    from hand-held to mainframe; about 50% PC/DOS/Windows (3.11/ 95 /
    NT).
