    Versions of Solaris administered 2.6-2.8.  Hardware platforms and machines
    supported were Ultra 1&2, E3000, and E4500 (sun4u).  Security auditing of
    systems and implementation of secure services such as ssh,ssl,scp,tcp
    wrappers.  System hardening of machines by removing unnecessary packages,
    and modifications of the OS for the designated purpose of the
    machine.  Setup up a Intrusion Detection System using Snort, with a mysql
    database, and Apache-SSL with A.C.I.D for reports and logical Analyses of
    attacks on the network.  Venerability assessment with Nessus and shell
    scripts using Nmap.  DNS administration of the internal and external
    network of the company.  Created & administered the performance monitoring
    machine which used Big Brother, Orca, with Apache-SSL and also used as a
    document server.  Created Sun package add formatted packages for making

    Wrote Korn shell scripts with sql to do corrections to corrupt data on the
    database.  Also, to perform modifications of account records on the Oracle
    Database.  Also, implemented automation of the modification process to
    speed the process and lowered the time to resolve the account
    problem. Logging and notification of the scripts of records involved
    notifying the proper persons via E-mail and pager.  Porting of shell
    scripts for the SNS Application from Solaris 2.5.1 on an Enterprise 10K
    and E450  to a new acquired IBM AIX machine.

    Job duties include troubleshooting WIN3.x/WIN95/98/NT/MAC/UNIX machines
    connecting to the Internet. Support for Internet software (listed below),
    troubleshooting ISDN calls with Ascend routers, and ISDN modems.  Creation
    and modification of user accounts within the database. Troubleshooting,
    and repairing user permissions, directories and mail spools on the UNIX
    Servers. Admin UNIX (Solaris <x86>, Linux (S.u.S.E), SGI, BSDi) servers
    from other purchased ISP's and integrate their technologies into Primary
    Network's UNIX / NT Network while securing the data Between the
    machines.  Installing shadow passsword suites to older servers, adding
    security features such as SSH, TCP-Wrappers, logging for external attacks
    installing intrusion detection software SNORT to detect remote attacks,
    used nmap to detect holes or leaks in the servers and network to tighten
    it down.  Hardening of the OS, removing and disabling packages and
    features that provided of not use or a threat to the system.

    Fastrans Technologies, Inc.
    Customer support with troubleshooting WIN3.x/95/98/NT/MAC/UNIX
    connectivity to the Internet. Creation and modification of user accounts
    on NT Server 4.0.  Radius setup on Ascend's user control software, on the
    Ascend Max routers.  In-house PC maintenance on customer machines and
    built machines to be sold by the company.  Ran Ethernet wire and setup
    hubs on the network at client site LANs.  Constructed and Administrated a
    Sun Solaris 2.6 Shell Server - responsibilities included user setup and
    configuration with modifications, correcting network and system problems
    affecting users, securing the machine by hardening the OS, installing
    secure services like SSH and apache-ssl, and installing software like
    tripwire to monitor system logs, setting up E-mail services using Postfix
    and Q-mail SMTP Servers, web-hosting with apache, and DNS using BIND 8.0.

    configuring programs on Solaris systems. Network setup with TCP/IP and PPP

    WIN95/98,NT40, machines connecting and using the NT, Novell, and UNIX File
    Servers at the Career Center using Samba, ip_filter. Also, setting up a T1
    connection using NT4.0 IP forwarding mechanism to allow the school to use
    various machines to get online.

    software, and setup for the current needs of the network., setting up SPAM
    filters and mechanisms.
    Installation and configuration of secure services such as Secure Shell
    (ssh) and PGP Encryption software, logging tools and system monitoring

    Installation of intrusion detection software SNORT to log external attacks
    and the use of nmap to detect any leaks or holes in the network.
