Verizon FNS requires a Network Security Analyst/Engineer to provide technical and programmatic support to the NASA Glenn Research Center (GRC) in Cleveland, Ohio. This position create and support an IT Security Program Office for the Research and Technology Directorate in performance of the PACE Contract. The successful candidate will use a balance of technical understanding of IT systems security vulnerabilities, IT Security Programmatic experience, and interpersonal (people) skills to establish the Directorate IT Security Program Office. A major function as a part of this office is to baseline the computer systems and associated vulnerabilities and risks. From this, the Program Office will develop a custom IT Security Program and associated security policies, plans, risk assessments, architecture and technical controls. These high-visibility roles are responsible for building relationships with security representatives of various organizations, helping them achieve their IT security objectives by coaching, facilitating, and advocating IT security best practices. Specific tasks include: - Creation and operations of a Directorate IT Security Office. - Document and revise IT Security Plans. - Facilitate and conduct IT security risk assessments for Directorate Organizations as required. - Recommend, test, and implement applicable technical safeguards. - Perform vulnerability analysis and follow-up identified security vulnerabilities to closure with the system owners. - Work with Organizational Computer Security Representatives (OCSRs) to improve the overall security knowledge and posture of the Directorate. - Meet regularly with assigned OSCRs to create a 'relationship network' where security issues can be communicated between the Organizations and the IT Security Program Office. - Meet regularly with the Directorate IT Security manager to keep abreast of the latest issues that require attention and inform them on progress of the current work and provide technical/programmatic direction. - Create, draft, and make changes to security related documents (policies,plans, assessments, etc.) as required. Required Knowledge and Skills: - Strong working knowledge of the Unix operating systems (SGI, Solaris, Linux, etc.). In depth knowledge of Unix networking and domain administration (minimum 3 years). - Minimum of two years experience working in an IT development or administration environment. - Security Architecture and operations experience. Minimum of 2 years experience with IT Security as a primary job function. - Demonstrated technical understanding of IT security issues and technologies. - Excellent written and verbal skills. - Awareness of computer security risks and responsibilities for various operating systems and devices. - Successful track record in customer service skills. - Successful track record in leadership to include, organizing and tasking follow-up. - IT Security Project or Program management/team leader experience. The ideal candidate will also possess/demonstrate the following additional qualities: - BS in Computer Science/Engineering or related technical field (or equivalent work experience). - Two years experience with computer security risk assessment and vulnerability testing. - Process orientation. - Self-motivated, self-starter. - Enthusiastic, make it happen approach. - Works well in small groups - able to lead small to medium projects. - Experience in US Government or DoD contracting. (Desirable) - Capable of performing conflict resolution. - Ability to solve problems in policy voids. - Ability to perform systems auditing. - Certifications desirable (CISSP, CISA, GIAC).
