The Product Support Engineer will assist with the on going development and support of Avaya network security solutions (VPNs, Firewalls, SSL Acceleration, Wireless Security, Etc). The position is the highest escalation point for the security product line. The successful candidate will be a well seasoned engineer who will have responsibilities both in support and R&D. The candidate will have the ability to resolve complex product problems through their own analysis efforts but will also often work very closely with system programmers. The position also involves research and writing white papers on various technology topics and features. The candidate will act as a mentor to tier III support engineers and be able to deliver training as needed. Requirements: Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science or related area. Must have a minimum of 6 years in network engineering and support. Network Security knowledge a must. Useful certifications: CCNP or CCIE, MSCE. CISSP a plus! The ideal candidate will have some experience working in an R&D environment and be familiar with software development cycles. The candidate must have strong customer support skills. Excellent writing and communications skills are required. Candidate must be self- motivated and able to function well in a team environment. A solid academic and practical background of the following fields: Network Security VPNs, IPSec, PKI, LDAP, Public Key Crypto Standards, x.509v3 certificate encoding, PKI CAs,SHA-1, MD5 (one way hashing functions), DES, 3DES, ESP, SKIP, IKE/ISAKMP, NAT/PAT (Dynamic, Static, Port), Proxy, SSL, RADIUS/TACACS, CHAP/PAP, RSA ACE/Server 3.3/4.0, Enterprise and personal firewalls. Networking Network architecture, LAN/WAN/MAN Technologies, Data Communications Equipment: Modems, Routers, Switches, CSU/DSUs, peer-to-peer and client-server network architecture, Ethernet, 802.11 wireless, TCP/IP Suite, ARP, UDP, ICMP, NetBEUI, IP Networking/ Static and Dynamic Routing, DNS, DHCP, Circuits (leased lines: T1, T3, ISDN, Frame Relay), SNMPv1 and SNMPv2 (MIB compiling).
