Hi Andre, at 23, life certainly gives one no obstacles. You don't have any ties like family, children, a house, a mortgage or any of those things that can creep up on you. When you are 42, let's talk again. It is no use in your life to have spent it meeting all of the demands of your industry to find it taken from you. Be careful what you ask for as well, if your employers find out you will "do it for free" - you just might. :) Kick ass and take names? Go for it. There is always the possibility that you are "the one". Ahh, good old Figjam. It is alway this sweet. All this morbid talk about how horrible the INFOSEC market space is has made me value the fact that I have chosen this path to trod down. But what can I say I love a good challenge! An old addage comes to mind KICK ASS AND TAKE NAMES, no crummy market or economy will slow me down, I have chosen my path and I will continue to pursue it balls to the wall. Never relenting and never giving in to the thought that I made a wrong move by entering this field. But then again I feel that INFOSEC is my calling in life, with out it a portion of my entire persona wouldnt be removed. But then again I am young and fool hardy (23). I know for a fact that I have not chosen the wrong path, I can feel in my very existence that this (INFOSEC) is the right thing for me, it is challenging, i get to meet and interface with some very smart people, and face it its fun as hell when you get to do the fun stuff (pen testing, etc). Yes there is allways some BS that you have to put up with. But you have to ask yourself at the end of the day this simple question. DO I LOVE WHAT I DO? If it is no, then be true to yourself and find a path that will lead you to enlightenment. If it is YES then smile with your entire soul, as you are a lucky person who gets to do what they love to do for a living. Which as we all know is a rare thing. So take my words for what they are, a rambling rant from a 23 year old techie punk who happens to love the INFOSEC field, and would be doing this for free if he had to (yes it makes me that happy).
