Leading financial firm is seeking a Senior Windows Security Architect to take on a highly visible and
influential leadership role within Institutional IT as the key leader and implementer of
Windows-based security solutions. The position demands timely assessment of emerging threats,
which are escalated to engineering from service. These threats could affect the computing
environment and the assessment may require design, socialization and consensus building for
proper courses of action. Development of or an existing close working relationship with technical
peers at Microsoft and other relevant vendors is expected. The successful candidate will serve as
the department's lead Windows consultant participating in application security architecture
reviews, vendor technology assessments and client technical presentations. Most importantly, this
position is the key technical leadership position for all issues related to Windows Security. This is a
senior-level position and it is expected that, in addition to delivering outstanding technical
contributions, the successful candidate would serve as a role model and mentor to less experienced
    engineers.

    SKILLS REQUIRED:
In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Windows Security, with increasing focus on the XP operating
environment and emerging Microsoft security initiatives is required. In-depth skills and at least five
years experience in Perl, Tcl/Tk, C or C++ system development is required. Working knowledge of
vulnerability scanning and security management products, networking protocols and LDAP/Active
Directory is required. Bachelor's Degree in a technical discipline (computer science, engineering,
physics, math, etc) required. Excellent written and verbal communications skills and the ability to
build consensus by communicating key points of technical issues to management, peers and less
technical audiences is required. As a key leadership position, the ability to exercise sound judgment
and work with a minimum of supervision, while still achieving management objectives, is required.

    ADDITIONAL SKILLS DESIRED:
Additional desired skills include knowledge of 802.11 standards and technologies, Bluetooth, PDA
products and security aspects of wireless technologies in general. Working knowledge of any of the
following is a plus: UNIX systems programming, UNIX administration, RSA ACE/SecurID, Secure
Computing, RADIUS, IPSec, VPN, TSS, biometric technologies, Kerberos on Windows, PKI and digital
certificates. Knowledge of financial applications and infrastructure development environments is a
plus. Advanced Degree in computer science desired.
