Ehud Tenenbaum, 18, and four others were charged with illegal entry into computers in the United States and Israel, including American and Israeli academic institutions and the Israeli parliament. The indictment was submitted to the magistrates court in Kfar Sava, a suburb east of Tel Aviv. None of the defendants was present at the hearing, and Israeli courts spokesman Moshe Gorali said they would submit their pleas at a later date. Tenenbaum's alleged accomplices were identified as Guy Fleisher, Ariel Rosenfeld, Barak Abutbul and Rafael Ohana. Their ages were not given, but the indictment said they were all born in 1979. The defendants face a maximum sentence of three years in prison if convicted. None are in custody. Tenenbaum, who used the name "The Analyzer" on the Internet, was the group leader and tutored the others in unauthorized penetration of computer systems, police spokesman Uzi Sanduri said. His activities came to light last year when the FBI said two California juveniles who had illegally penetrated Pentagon computers told authorities they had been trained by Tenenbaum. The FBI, the U.S. Air Force Office of Special Investigations and the Office of the Inspector General of NASA assisted Israel in the investigation. -o- Subscribe: mail majordomoat_private with "subscribe isn".
