Mischief-makers harvest e-mail addresses for mass mailing

May 30 -- SETI@home, the program that searches through radio data for
signs of extraterrestrial intelligence, was harnessed by a different breed
of alien invaders, the project's leaders said Wednesday. Pranksters tapped
into the multimillion-user database, made off with tens of thousands of
e-mail addresses, then launched a spam attack over Memorial Day weekend. 
SETI@home says it has sealed the biggest security gap.
