The personal details and medical records of nearly 1,400 people from 
across Scotland were stolen during a break-in at the north-east’s 
biggest hospital.

Health bosses confirmed that a laptop computer with the names, addresses 
and dates of birth of 1,392 patients was taken from a locked office at 
Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

And NHS Grampian admitted last night that the files were not properly 
protected.

It has apologised for the “anxiety and stress”.
