The Finnish military is to establish a cyberwar unit charged with
protecting government data communications, regional daily Turun Sanomat
quoted government sources as saying on Wednesday.

According to the paper the unit is to be activated in early 2011 and
operate 24 hours a day against both civilian and military cyberattacks.

Turun Sanomat added that the unit would be tasked with monitoring data
security, detect attacks and coordinate countermeasures.

Last year, Nato founded a cyber defence centre in Tallinn in the wake of
a spate of cyberattacks against Estonia in 2007.
