The move is among various measures being taken by India’s national security establishment to beef up cyber security at a time when an increasing number of government websites are coming under hacking attacks. “MEA (ministry of external affairs) may request missions abroad to look into high-end cyber security related enterprises or production units that could be acquired by Indian companies,” said an internal note of the last meeting of a sub-committee for international cooperation on cyber security, held on 16 March. The note was reviewed by Mint. Government websites have seen a sharp rise in the instances of being hacked, Mint reported on 15 March. There were 112 reported instances of government websites getting hacked between December and February, Sachin Pilot, minister of state for communication and information technology, told the Lok Sabha.
