    a netquake server will give anyone the names and ips of the current
    players.  if you are playing, just type "status" in the console.  you
    could also use the udp query interface, via a tool such as qstat
    (http://www.activesw.com/people/steve/qstat.html).  both these
    questionable features do not exist in qw and q2; only the server
    console (and game dll, in q2) can get the ips of the clients.  (qw and
    q2 dont have the bug of dropping you if they get a duplicate connect
    from your ip; however, other mischief is possible if you know the
    other players ip.)
