    - --------------------------------------------------------------------------

    PACKAGE : xloadimage
SUMMARY : Remote vulnerability in xloadimage
    DATE : 2001-08-28 11:20:00
    ID : CLA-2001:415
    RELEVANT

    DESCRIPTION
"xloadimage" is a program used to display images.
This program contains a buffer overflow in the code handling FACE
type images. In conjunction with plugger and netscape, this could be
used by remote attackers to execute arbitrary code on the user's
machine when this user visited a site containing a specially crafted
     image.

    SOLUTION
It is recommended that all xloadimage users apply the update, even if
plugger is not being used (plugger is only shipped with Conectiva
Linux 6.0 or higher). It is also recommended that xloadimage be
deactivated in /etc/pluggerrc if you have plugger installed.
