Overview:
The concerns for ensuring the safety of our employees and maintaining
business operations have become significant in the wake of last month's
terrorist attacks. Today's topic will explore how security professionals are
handling Incident Response, Business Continuance and Computer Emergency
Response. The ISSA October meeting will be a roundtable discussion, allowing
for more interaction and collaboration. Come with your ideas; check lists,
experiences, and practical knowledge to share with the attendees.
Discussion Facilitator:
Tim Sandage, Information Assurance Manager, Department of Defense and ISSA
Portland Chapter Secretary Portland Chapter Secretary. Tim Sandage will kick
off the discussion with sharing his experience in Computer Security and
disaster recovery for the Department of Defense. Tim's experience with
government computer systems and computer security/disaster preparedness can
be easily applied to today's business environment.
Tim Sandage has been employed with the Department of Defense and the Air
Force for 15 years. Tim specializes in computer security, disaster
preparedness and anti-terrorism force protection. Tim has also worked as a
police officer in both the military and the civilian sector. In his current
position he is responsible for all computer security related issues for a 10
western state region for the Department of Defense. He has written computers
security policies, Certification and Accreditation (Risk Analysis) packages,
emergency response plans, disaster planning and recovery plans and security
awareness training policies and procedures for classified and unclassified
computer systems within the federal government. Tim is a certified boundary
protection, vulnerability, and intrusion protection specialist as well as
certified TEMPEST/COMPUSEC security manager for the Department of Defense.
Tim is the currently involved with the SANS institute writing computer
security awareness and training material for use within the SANS training
program.

confidentiality, integrity, and availability of organizational Information
