A British computer user has pleaded guilty to creating global e-mail viruses that affected Web users in 42 countries. Simon Vallor, 22, pleaded guilty at London's Bow Street Magistrates Court on Friday to sending the "Gokar," "Redesi," and "Admirer" computer viruses. Vallor, who was arrested in February by British police following a tip-off from the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation, claimed his motivation was to see whether he could do it and whether the virus would spread back to him. The virus was first seen on December 5, 2001 when the e-mails flooded into users' inboxes. As soon as they were opened they infected the complete address list of each user. Vallor, from Llandudno, north Wales, was tracked down via a British Telecom Internet access account registered at his home. He was arrested in February this year and charged under section three of the UK's Computer Misuse Act 1990. Vallor was released on unconditional bail to be sentenced at a later date pending reports.
