I don't want to bring up any controversy, but if you're getting your information about security from a magazine / newspaper - whether it be in the field of computers or not, you're probably not getting information that is accurate - and certainly not timely. InformationWeek is ok if you have a couple of minutes to kill and see what new information is out there, but chances are that if you're reading about a "new" security threat in a magazine that is published monthly, you've already been infected / rooted. Don't get me started about the crack technology squad at the Oregonian.
