Maybe a 'SAVE AS' operation? I've recently had a similiar issue and did some testing - however the test system we used was a Win95B so you'd better test it on NT (disclaimer...:) BTW it was a Word 97 document. I believe (another disclaimer....:) it has to be an MS document to show the STAT tab. Here's a trial that created a case where the "statistics" created time was LATER than the general (DOS) created time for a file: ...copied file to A: at 10:44AM. Opened file at 10:45AM. SAVED AS <filename> at 10:47AM with no changes made to the document. DOS Creation Time: 10:44AM DOS Modified Time: 10:47AM Statistics Creation Time: 10:47AM Statistics Modified Time: 10:47AM Statistics Revision Number: 2 The SAVE AS kept the DOS creation time from the original file, which is recorded when the file is copied. Note the revision number. If yours is 1...I'm stumped. BTW, I had no other trials (exclusive of SAVE AS operations) that showed a simliar disparity between the two creation times. Hope this is useful to you... The GENERAL tab of the file properties gives you the created, modified and accessed dates and times for file. The STATISTICS tab also gives you the same categories but also gives you a printed date and time. For one of the files that I'm reviewing, the created date and time are different between the GENERAL and STATISTICS tabs. The GENERAL one is July 7, 2000 and the STATISTICS one is July 10, 2000. The printed field indicates the file was printed on July 9, 2000. Does anyone know why the created dates could be different for the same file? How would I explain how a document could be printed before it is created? I am confident that someone out there has ran into this before and I apologize if this has been covered previously.
